Krav Maga

The origins of Krav Maga can be traced to pre-World War II Eastern Europe. The system’s creator, Imi Lichtenfeld, was born in 1910 and raised in Bratislava (Slovakia). He was a renowned boxer, wrestlers and gymnast, winning several national and international championships in the late 1920ies.

In the mid-1930s, fascist and anti-semitic groups began to harass and assault the Jews of Bratislava. Lichtenfeld organized a group of boxers and wrestlers who took to the streets to defend their community against the growing numbers of nazi thugs.

Imi quickly learned, however, that the aggressive and brutal nature of street fighting was quite different from competitive combat sports. It required a different mindset and different techniques.

Typically, street assaults were surprise attacks and the outcome would be determined within a few seconds. The loser would get extra kicks to the head and torso causing serious injuries.

The re-evaluation of his ideas about violence led him to put more emphasis on quick threat neutralisation. It also led him to develop the skills and techniques that would become the foundations of Krav Maga.

COMBAT KRAV MAGA 

Developed for use in survival situations, its philosophy emphasizes threat neutralization, defensive maneuvers, simultaneous attacks and aggression.
Krav Maga is used by the Israeli Special Defense Forces and is closely adopted by law enforcement and security organizations such as Mossad, Shabak, FBI, New York Police Department SWAT units, and US Special Operations Forces. There are several organizations responsible for teaching Krav Maga internationally.
Krav Maga is not considered a martial art, much less a sport, as it has no rules. recognized as the most efficient PERSONAL DEFENSE system in the world.
All scams are trained in order to overcome any and all situations of violence as quickly and effectively as sometimes lethal strokes are required.

Ami Niv Krav Maga

Throughout the history of Krav Maga Ami Niv, many students were awarded black belts by Ami Niv. The first ones awarded black belts in 1994 achieved the status of Imi Lichtenfeld, founder of the Krav Maga and Eli Avikzar continued in his path.
It all began in a small gym in the city of Hadera, when Ami Niv opened his first gym in 1986. From this point on, generations of students earned black belts over the years, trained others and open Krav Maga Ami Niv schools in Israel and around the world, and they themselves trained students who also earned black belts.
Ami Niv himself earned the rank of Dan 10 and is considered an expert in Krav Maga for law enforcement and counter-terrorism. He continues in the paths and the expertise begun by Imi Lichtenfeld and Eli Avikzar.
